This policy explains what Chickasha.com collects, why we use it, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.

01 · The basics

Scope and operator

This Privacy Policy applies to Chickasha.com, including its local news, event calendar, business directory, jobs, classifieds, lodging, account, listing, checkout, contact, and related pages (collectively, the “Site”). In this policy, “Chickasha.com,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Site under the Chickasha.com name.

This policy covers information handled through the Site. It does not govern an independent business, employer, event organizer, advertiser, payment provider, or other third party merely because the Site links to or displays information about that party.

Listings may be public

Information intended for a directory, job, classified, event, or profile may be visible to anyone and indexed by search engines.

03 · Collection

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information: username, email address, password in encrypted or hashed form, profile details, and account preferences.
  • Directory and community submissions: business, job, classified, lodging, event, review, claim, correction, or other listing information. This may include names, descriptions, categories, prices, addresses, approximate or precise locations you choose to publish, phone numbers, email addresses, websites, hours, photos, documents, and social links.
  • Contact and support information: your name, email address, selected help topic, subject, message, consent response, and an optional file attachment. Please do not upload passwords, payment-card data, government identifiers, medical records, or other sensitive documents.
  • Transaction information: when a paid or featured option is available, we may receive order status, selected service, amount, currency, billing contact information, transaction reference, and limited payment-status information. A payment provider may collect payment credentials directly; we do not need or ask you to place card or banking credentials in a public listing or support message.
  • Communications: messages you send to us and our responses, including account, order, moderation, listing, and support communications.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and network information: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, language, referring page, approximate location derived from IP, and similar technical details.
  • Usage information: pages viewed, links or Site controls used, dates and times, session information, and interactions used to understand and improve the Site.
  • Security and diagnostic information: request logs, error details, suspected spam or abuse signals, authentication events, and information needed to protect accounts and the Site.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: identifiers used for essential functions, preferences, security, and audience measurement as described below.

Information from other sources

We may receive information from a person who submits or claims a listing, reports a problem, identifies a public event or business, or asks us to update content. We may also receive limited information from service providers that support analytics, hosting, security, spam prevention, email delivery, maps, or payments. Public facts may be gathered from official organizations, businesses, government sources, event organizers, or other public websites and records.

04 · Public directory

Information intended to be public

Chickasha.com is a public local-information site. Content submitted for a business, job, classified, lodging, event, review, author profile, or similar public feature may be displayed publicly, shared through Site pages or promotional previews, and indexed or cached by search engines and other services. That content can include the submitter name or display name and any contact, location, image, or descriptive information selected for publication.

Think before you publish. Do not include a home address, personal phone number, private email address, image, or other personal detail unless you have the right to publish it and want it to be public. Removing content from Chickasha.com may not immediately remove copies already indexed, cached, archived, or independently copied elsewhere.

05 · Purposes

How we use information

We use information to:

  • provide, maintain, personalize, and improve the Site;
  • create and secure accounts and let users submit, edit, claim, feature, and manage listings;
  • review, verify, publish, organize, correct, moderate, or remove local content;
  • process orders, confirm payments, provide purchased features, and maintain transaction records;
  • respond to questions, support requests, corrections, privacy requests, and rights complaints;
  • send transactional messages about accounts, submissions, orders, policy changes, or security;
  • measure readership and Site performance, diagnose errors, and improve navigation and relevance;
  • detect spam, fraud, abuse, security threats, infringement, and violations of our Terms;
  • comply with law, enforce agreements, and protect users, the public, our rights, or the Site; and
  • carry out another purpose explained when information is collected or with your permission.

06 · Web technologies

Cookies, analytics, and similar technologies

The Site and its service providers may use cookies, local identifiers, pixels, scripts, and server logs for the following categories:

  • Essential and security: sign-in, session continuity, form operation, fraud and spam prevention, load management, and security.
  • Preferences and functionality: remembering selections and providing embedded or interactive features.
  • Analytics: understanding visits, page use, device categories, approximate geography, and Site performance.

We currently use Google Analytics through Google’s Site Kit tools. Google Analytics may collect a client identifier, session and usage statistics, approximate geolocation, and browser or device information. Learn more in Google’s Analytics data-collection explanation and Google’s Privacy Policy. Google also offers a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

You can limit cookies through browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in, forms, checkout, or other features from working correctly. Browser controls and third-party opt-out tools are provided by their respective operators, and we do not control their availability.

07 · Disclosures

When we disclose information

We may disclose information in these circumstances:

  • At your direction or publicly: when you ask us to publish a listing, review, profile, event, job, classified, image, contact detail, or other public content.
  • Service providers: to vendors supporting hosting, content management, forms, email delivery, analytics, security, spam prevention, backups, maps, accessibility, and technical operations. They receive information needed for their function and are expected to handle it under applicable terms and law.
  • Payments and transactions: to a payment or financial provider selected at checkout, and to vendors needed to confirm or fulfill a paid feature.
  • Legal, safety, and integrity: when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law or a valid legal request; investigate fraud, infringement, abuse, or a security incident; enforce our terms; or protect people, property, rights, or the Site.
  • Business change: in connection with an actual or proposed merger, financing, reorganization, sale, transfer, or similar change involving the Site, subject to appropriate safeguards and applicable law.
  • With permission: for another purpose disclosed to you and accepted by you.

08 · Advertising disclosures

Sale, sharing, and targeted advertising

We do not sell lists of personal information for money. We do not knowingly disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do use analytics and technical service providers as described in this policy. Some privacy laws define “sale” or “sharing” broadly enough that certain analytics disclosures may require additional rights even when no money changes hands.

If you believe a sale, sharing, or targeted-advertising opt-out right applies to you, submit a request through the contact page with “Privacy Request” in the subject. We will evaluate and respond as required by applicable law.

09 · Stewardship

Retention and security

Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including to keep an account or public listing active; complete and document transactions; answer requests; maintain business, tax, audit, and security records; prevent fraud and repeat abuse; resolve disputes; enforce agreements; and comply with law. Retention varies by record type, account status, legal obligations, backup cycle, and operational need. We may de-identify information and retain it in a form that is not reasonably linked to you.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information, including access controls, encrypted web transport, backups, spam screening, monitoring, and security tools. No website, transmission, storage system, or safeguard can guarantee absolute security. Protect your password, use a unique credential, and contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized account activity.

10 · Control

Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to:

  • request access to or a copy of personal information associated with you;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate personal information;
  • ask us to delete personal information;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • opt out of certain sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling;
  • withdraw consent for future processing where consent is the basis;
  • receive portable information where required; and
  • appeal a decision or contact a regulator where applicable.

To make a request, use the contact form and put “Privacy Request” in the subject, or email support@chickasha.com. Tell us the right you want to exercise and the email address or listing involved. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify identity, authority, and the scope of the request. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted, but we may require proof of authorization and direct identity confirmation.

We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. Some information may be exempt from a request or retained where needed for security, legal compliance, recordkeeping, free-expression rights, transaction completion, or another lawful purpose. We will explain material limitations when required.

13 · Other services

Third-party websites and services

Review their policies before providing information.
