Chickasha’s Wings & Wheels Will Bring Free Family Fun Back to the Airport on June 6

The city’s early-summer favorite is coming back with free admission, airplanes, more than 100 cars, food vendors and free flights for kids.

CHICKASHA, Okla. — It may still feel like spring around town, but folks can go ahead and start circling one Saturday on the calendar. Chickasha’s 8th Annual Wings & Wheels Airshow & Car Show is set for Saturday, June 6, at the Chickasha Municipal Airport, and it looks like another full day of good, family-friendly fun on the north side of town.

According to the official Wings & Wheels event page, admission is free, the airport is located at 2344 Beechcraft Road about two miles north of Chickasha off Highway 81, and this year’s show will once again pair airshow performances with a car show featuring more than 100 vehicles. What started as a small fly-in back in 2019 has grown into one of Chickasha’s regular early-summer traditions, as noted on the city’s annual events lineup.

What to expect at Wings & Wheels

Gates are scheduled to open at 8 a.m., with airshow opening ceremonies and performances beginning at noon. Car show awards are set for 1:30 p.m., or right after the airshow wraps up. Food trucks and vendor booths will be open throughout the day, though some food vendors may not start serving until closer to 10 a.m.

For a lot of local families, one of the biggest draws will be the free Young Eagles airplane rides for children ages 8 to 17. Those spots are limited, so the city is encouraging folks to arrive early. Drivers who want to enter the NAPA car show can pre-register online through the event page, or sign up in person the day of the show. Online pre-registration closes at noon on Friday, June 5.

There will also be a few hometown touches mixed in with the aircraft and cars. The city says static displays will include the Chickasha Police Department’s MATV and police cars, along with the Grady County Sheriff’s Department MATV. The featured aircraft for 2026 have not been announced yet, so airshow fans may want to check back for updates as June gets closer.

A few things to know before you go

Organizers are asking visitors to arrive early to avoid traffic backups near the airport. Bringing sunscreen, sunglasses and a lawn chair or blanket is probably a smart move, too, and the city says free water will be available at the Water Tent.

A couple of house rules are worth remembering: weapons, coolers, alcohol, pets and unauthorized motor vehicles are not allowed on airport property during the event. In other words, pack light, wear something comfortable and plan on spending a good stretch of the day out there.

Why this one matters for Chickasha

Events like Wings & Wheels have a way of bringing together a little bit of everything that makes Chickasha feel like Chickasha — hometown hospitality, family time, local vendors and a reason to spend the day visiting with folks you know. It is the kind of event where kids can look up at the sky in amazement while grownups wander through the car show and catch up with neighbors.
