Not another rebirth of Chickasha.com? I’m afraid so. It’s been a couple years now since this domain was active, so why now?
There’s always a cause and affect, isn’t there? In this case I recently received an offer on this domain name, a rather mediocre offer. I’ve owned the domain for 11 years now, and quite frankly I have no intention of selling it for a few hunderd dollars.
The offer made me think that I should really develop a website around the domain name. I haven’t lived in Chickasha, Oklahoma since 1998 and have only been back for a few visits since then so I can’t contribute much personally. However, I’m going to give it a go using the power of RSS and Web 2.0. We’ll see what we can learn about Chickasha, Oklahoma from others who share their life experiences, photos, and videos on the Internet.
I learned something today as I was Googling around. Curtis Hart is litigating to get a beer license for his Muscle Car Ranch. Apparently it is so contentious, that the case is being appealed. I created the first Muscle Car Ranch website back in 1996 so it rang a bell with me. I haven’t seen Curtis Hart since. It seems like a long time ago, but it’s nice to know that some things are consistant like that annual Muscle Car Ranch Swap Meet and the Chickasha Festival of Light. I was suprised that that a 3.2 beer license is surrounded in controversy in the year 2007. I guess many Oklahomans still have their beer phobia, but that’s ok. Chickasha, Oklahoma is a conservative small town in rural Oklahoma where conservative values sometimes trump progress. From my point of view a thousand miles south, The Muscle Car Ranch Swap Meet is good for Chickasha and a 3.2 beer license is good for the Muscle Car Ranch. I admire Curtis Hart for hanging around all these years. His loyalty to the community alone should be worth a beer license.
